This prospectus is designed to
give you some basic information about our pre-school and should answer many
of your questions. The document should be read in conjunction with our policies
which give more detailed information.
We invite you and your child to visit us during a session to see how it is
run.
Buckland Monachorum Pre-school
Playgroup provides the vital setting for developing confidence and self-esteem
of children aged two and above. We encourage children to build social skills
and independence in a safe, secure and stimulating environment, preparing
them for the next step of school. We work closely with parents and carers
to help integrate children into this new environment and we offer the opportunity
to stay with a child during the settling in period if necessary. We provide
an inclusive setting in which we welcome children from all backgrounds and
abilities.
WHERE ARE WE?
Our pre-school was founded 38 years ago and meets in a spacious village hall
with ample parking in the peaceful village of Buckland Monachorum, Devon.
There is a small fenced garden and wheelchair access.
Buckland Monachorum Pre-school Playgroup Is run by a dedicated committee of
parents and qualified staff. We are affiliated to the pre-school Learning
Alliance and registered with OFSTED and we provide places for funded 3-4 year
olds under the Government's Nursery Education Scheme. We have received excellent
Ofsted inspection reports and have planned curriculum working towards the
Early Learning Goals through the Stepping Stones of the Foundation Stage.
Our inspection report is available at pre-school on request. We have an adult
ratio of 1:4 for 2 year olds and 1:6 for children of 3 years and above. We
have qualified and experienced staff who continually update training.
WHAT ARE OUR LINKS TO THE SCHOOL?
We have a good working relationship with the school, especially the reception
teacher who likes to visit once a term to meet the children who will be attending
school in the next intake. The school often invites us to use their wildlife
area and grounds.
WHAT DO WE DO?
We work with children to help them achieve their potential through enjoyable
and creative play
activities. Our key-worker system monitors the development and needs of each
child against our pre-school curriculum. We are happy to discuss your child's
progress at any time.
Our curriculum is planned to work towards the nationally approved Early years
Goals. We hope to prepare children to progress with confidence at reception
class level at local schools.
